Buttons tutorial

Like I promised. Better late than never. Buttons tutorial from Basics of Sewing.

This book starts off by teaching you how to thread a needle and do some basic stitches. Chapter 2 is on sewing buttons, mending tears, simple alterations and embroidery. Chapters 3 and 4 have instructions on the usual zakka patterns like drawstring bags, quilted coasters and the likes. A few good tips on machine sewing in chapter 4. Overall, this book has clear instructions with illustrations and many nice pictures. One of my favorites!

Kaomoji

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

As my quest for more sozai and kaomoji (facemarks) continues (* ̄∇ ̄)ノAHAHA, I came across some very useful websites to share:
button01 Hiroette.com: Just an introduction to kaomoji.
button02 Facemark.jp: A whole lot more kaomoji variations!
button03 Jayhan: Found an excellent tutorial on how to turn hiragana into kaomoji with MS Japanese IME Keyboard!
button04 International Herald Tribune: Another excellent article from iht on kaomoji – “In Japan, (*^o^*) Means Happiness”

The uniquely Japanese face icons, called kaomoji, may not convert Western cell-phone message-senders as they start using their mobile-phone screens for data services over the next year or two. But they raise a puzzling question: The Internet was supposed to bring down cultural barriers and help forge a sense of community that is common around the world, right?

Bee Sylotee

Bought a bunch of nonsense online again… Couldn’t resist the cute Decole-like packaging of this teeth whitening kit. Once again, Jpmon didn’t fail me and I got my parcel in 3 days! Got the dead skin remover gadget that I saw on “Nu Ren Wo Zui Da” and a “silver” foot file, some Kose masks and a bust moisturizer! Photos uploaded to my Poupeegirl. :)
