There are a few sections in this book that are exceptionally close to my heart now that I have left the design industry to become a personal banker in a financial industry. My favorite sections in this book includes Books: where they discuss binding techniques, Housewares: very zakka-ish, Stickers: print your own and stick’em, reminds me of good old Stickernation that’s now defunct (I hope they bring it back one day), Wall Graphics: cut vinyl to decorate the walls in your home, and Zines: create your own indie zine.

I have more medium-res, readable scans under the cut.

Rilakkuma (relax bear) (JP)

Books, Craft books, Tezukuri December 28th, 2007

First up, a Merry Christmas to everyone! Do leave a comment if you’re reading this because I’m getting traffic but I rarely get comments or feedback. :( It’s been a so-so Christmas and I’m looking forward to 2008. My sister left for Washington yesterday morning to study there for six months and I miss her already! *waves at Michi* Before she left, I made her a rilakkuma felt mascot, poorly done because I didn’t have the right color threads and I’m not very good at hand stitching.

This book is a must-buy for all rilakkuma fans out there.

Make your own Five Stones - a traditional game

Tezukuri, Tutorials October 27th, 2007

Five stones

This is a very simple to make craft project (I took longer to write this tutorial than to make them!) and it uses fabric scraps 10cm x 7cm. Five stones is a traditional game, one that I played when I was a little girl. I’m not sure if people in other parts of the world also play this. More information on how to play, here.

Anyway, let’s get started!
