I’ve got one!

Tech December 4th, 2007

My husband bought me this iPod touch last Sunday as my birthday/Christmas present! I’ve been lemming for this gadget for quite some time. Now, I can carry my wedding photos and videos with me everywhere I go!

About Webapps
Webapps are actually not that amazing because they’re like wap sites catering to the iPhone and iPod touch rather than applications, it’s weird calling them webapps. :p Nonetheless, here are some that I really like:

My top Webapp picks
101cookbooks
True “webapp” where you read everything in the 3.5″ screen unlike Food Network which opens a new Safari window.

Facebook
Great for updating your status, checking your friends’ status, read your Inbox and reply. I prefer going to the full site to send Eyesores.

Maps
Google Maps for iPod Touch

Name Tag for iPhone (works with iPod Touch too)
I thought this was a really funny one and even though I don’t and won’t be using it, I still bookmarked it. Here’s how it looks like:

TextOnPhone
I’m reading e-books by Haruki Murakami on at this portal, choose from more than 20,000 other titles!

I’d like to try out the BBC Podcast too but it only works in the UK. :(

+ Sexy exterior
+ Multi-touch: Fun to use, excellent detection, predictive typing, hit spacebar 2x = .
+ Minimal lag time when browsing photos/videos
+ Turn the iPod horizontal to view photos/videos
+ Webapps
- Takes 15 seconds to boot up again after switching off
- Earphone jack at the bottom makes me turn off the iPod every time I plug or unplug because the on/off button is on top
- You cannot download Podcasts via iTunes on your iPod but you need to download it via your computer’s iTunes < --- this is one of the major turnoffs
- iTunes can only convert .mov and MPEG-4 files to iPod format so you'll need your own 3rd party software to convert your .avi or other video files

All in all, the iPod touch is an excellent portable media player coupled with Wi-Fi to surf the web with a Safari browser is more than enough reasons to get one. ;)
