Cookies and Fabrics

I met up with dear SYT blackbiscuits yesterday at Plaza Singapura yesterday. We went shopping at Spotlight, the only one left in Singapore. :( It’s terribly messy and I don’t like to shop there but it’s fun when you’ve got good company. :) I learnt about the remnants bin from blackbiscuits and scored a very light blue gingham! I also learnt that the minimum I could buy was 1/4 meter instead of 1/2 meter and bought some light blue gingham for a long overdue craft project.

Cookies & Fabrics
Home-baked cookies with lotsa love

blackbiscuits‘ going back to Melbourne for her studies in 2 weeks. I’m gonna miss her and the yummy stuff she bakes for me whenever we meet up. She even remembers I hate raisins and dislike nuts even though I only told her once a very long time ago; now she makes me my favorite no-nut chocolate chip cookies. This time the cookies are pink inside and there are even heart shaped “rainbow rice”!

On Valentine’s day, I visited Cynthia’s place and she taught me how to make felt beads and beaded hair slides! She so generously gave me a bag of hemp cords and wool for my own crafty projects. I’m going to post again once I’ve finished a felt bead project. Cynthia holds her own beading classes and you can find more details here!

I went home in the evening and prepared pasta salad with soup for a simple Valentine’s day dinner with hubby. It’s a quiet one this year with no lavish gifts because I’m in between jobs and we’re both pretty broke. It’s my first time whipping up pesto pasta salad and I am very happy with how it turned out. I even had a Jamie Oliver moment charring the capsicum over open fire on the stove! He bought me a single stalk of pink rose, it’s the first pink rose I got from him in all these years! It’s sweet, and pink is sweet. I used to looove half-bloomed blue roses, I don’t know why. Now I prefer them champagne, pink or red, and fully bloomed!

Protected: Chinese New Year 2008

Author, Websites February 12th, 2008

How’s your Chinese New Year everybody? This year’s my first year giving out “ang baos” (red packets), I don’t quite look forward to Chinese New Year anymore like I did before when I was at the receiving end, haha! Nonetheless, lots of fish and prawns, sharks’ fin soup and abalone; too much “good food” in a row. We MSN-ed with my sister in Washington after reunion lunch on Chinese New Year’s eve, went visiting on Chinese New Year’s day itself and slept away the next day. Saturday was spent playing mahjong through the night, it was lots of fun for me even though I lost, as usual. You don’t need to be winning to be happy isn’t it?

Poupeegirl FAQ

Websites February 8th, 2008

I introduced Jessie to Poupeegirl and she was telling me it took her awhile to figure out what’s going around the website despite the (loose) English translations so i decided to write this short FAQ. :)

My Poupee Home

First of all, what’s this Poupeegirl about? It’s a cute, Japanese avatar community where you earn ribbons to buy more stuff for your avatar. You can earn a random number of ribbons by uploading photos and you may only upload photos relating to fashion. You will also get ribbons for commenting on other people’s photos or getting comments for your photos. It’s a good way to keep a diary of what you’ve been buying but mostly, you’ll be addicted to virtual shopping!
