Integrating Google Search into Wordpress
I’ve just changed my Wordpress theme and doing some customizations. I’m not using any plugins for Google Search so I thought I’d share this simple way of integrating it into Wordpress whilst keeping the theme. Everything has been simplified thanks to the improved Adsense for Search.
1. Login to your Google Adsense account, go to Adsense Setup and click on Adsense for Search. Select your desired settings and click Continue. Choose your look and feel and click Continue again. For Opening of search results page, select Open results within my own site and enter “http://yourdomain.com/search-results.php” (without the quotes). Complete the rest of the settings and hit Continue again. You’ll get to Name Your Search Engine, then hit the Submit and Get Code button.
2. There will be two code snippets for you to copy, Search Box Code and Search Results Code. Firstly, copy the Search Box Code. Go back to your Wordpress and Design a Widget, add a Text widget to your sidebar. Edit your Text widget and paste your Search Box Code inside, Save Changes.
3. Next, Write a new Page in Wordpress and give it a title “Search results” (this will generate a page named http://yourdomain.com/search-results.php), uncheck all the fields under Comments & Pings. Now go back to Google and copy and paste your Search Results Code into your Post and Publish.
And there you have it! A personalized Google Search results page!

Wordpress 2.6
Finally satisfied the inner geek in me and upgraded my WP. The wp-admin 2.6 feels super sluggish and looks pretty messy imo. I also got a spanking new 500GB external hard disk that’s still in its shrink wrap! Now I just gotta wait for the husband to be free so I may borrow his PC to transfer the files from my old hard disks. Bye bye to PC days.
Let’s try out the new image upload function!

Sorry I can’t update as frequently as before. I’m getting into a new routine of waking up at 630am (snoozing till almost 7am) and ending the day before 6pm. I hate bathing and washing my hair at night and I don’t blow dry. Finally collected my sewing machine and I hope to finish up the pouch for my dear sister and also wrap up the tutorial. The only indulgence I have is updating my pouppeegirl and trying to complete Professor Layton on my DS.

I’ll buy the Yone x Cheki if anybody wants to buy my 2nd hand instax mini 25 for US$70. Maybe I’ll list it on eBay when I’m free.

Last week, I collected my hubby’s new Nokia 6110 Navigator before I travelled to JB alone! It’s a phone with quirky GPS functions and voice guidance, the caller’s name will be read out when the phone rings too! It was my first time going to JB alone and it was quite an adventure going in at night. It was pouring and I made a new friend, we walked to the Singapore customs because the bus was caught in a terrible jam. It took me 3 hours to finally reach the JB customs.

No luck with the Isetan sale; I bought two bras, a P&J special edition lipstick (055) and a Ralph Lauren shirt only. The P&J lipstick wasn’t even on discount and there was only a measely 10% for the shirt.
Whilst flashing my mobile at the SE service centre, I came across the Sony T2. An extremely captivating advertising campaign that sent my heart aflutter! I can’t find any excuses reasons to get it since my old T3 is still serving me well. I fiddled with the touch screen T2 with face and smile recognition with no subject to try out the functions, the
is very bulky considering today’s technologies, but love is blind.

Was doing some research for what to wear to work and I came across these two very useful articles from Lifescript.com that I thought I’d share:
